Nick Hopkins

My name is Nick Hopkins. I have autism, as well as some other conditions that often come with it like ADHD, anxiety, and OCD.

I have been at Ventures ATL since the beginning of 2022, and I’ve worked on several projects. I mainly work on Cox, but I’ve also worked on SourceAmerica, Autism Society, and Roark Capital. I’ve learned several things and grown a lot in the meantime. As far as my favorite project goes, I’d have to say Miller’s Ale House menu pricing analysis for Roark, since it’s all about food. As far as my role goes, I’m a Data Management Associate for now, but I’ve got a lot of ambitions to grow here at Ventures ATL.

My very first job was as an unpaid intern at Vulcan Park in Birmingham, Alabama. This was part of the Horizons program I attended, which is a school for neurodiverse adults to learn to be independent. After returning home, I got a job at Kroger. That job ended after two months. I later received some help looking for another job, and I eventually got hired as a dishwasher in a nursing home called Somerby. I was there for four years, during which time I graduated college with an associate degree in IT. I left for several reasons, the main one being that I wanted to do something with my degree. Now, I’m here at Ventures ATL, working with computers, living my dream.

I have a lot of strengths. First and foremost, I’m smart. The aptitude tests that I’ve taken have all said the same thing: I’m bright enough to do whatever I want. This makes me very capable of doing the various projects here.

Away from work, I’m a gamer. I absolutely love video games. I’m an especially big fan of RPGs and adventure games, but I’ll also play anything I find fun. I do like card games and board games, but I primarily play video games.  I also enjoy movies, plays, and books. And don’t get me started on food. I’m definitely a foody and part of the joy of traveling, for me, is trying the local cuisine.

The reason I like working at Ventures is because it’s very laid-back and calming. My last job was very stressful and overwhelming. With this job, I am much more at peace and can just focus on getting things done one day at a time.  The people here are also very friendly, and my bosses are always here for me.

Well, that’s my story.  I hope you enjoyed it. From me at least, I wish you, dear reader, all the best.
